Join Lisa Ginns who has been making her own soap for over 15 years.  This fun hands-on soap making class will teach you the basics of cold process soap, using all natural oils and additives.

Mass produced soaps are often a chemical cocktail, why not produce your own and know the ingredients.  You will take home approximately 1kg of gently cleansing handmade soap.

What you will learn

1. Know the science of soap making;
2. Understand the ingredients used and safety precautions;
3. Learn how to add fragrance and other natural additives to personalise your soap;
4. Know where to buy ingredients to continue making your soap making;

What to bring

1. Pen and paper to take additional notes;
2. An apron to protect your clothes;
3. A 1L milk carton to pour your soap into or silicone moulds.  If using moulds you will also need baking trays top and bottom or similar to cover your moulds.  Make sure your moulds will hold 1L of ingredients;
4. A towel to wrap your soap to keep it warm while it cures.

Who is this suitable for?

A course for anyone wanting to learn how to make their own soap from natural ingredients, and know exactly what you are putting on your skin.  Making your own soap is not cheaper than buying soap from the supermarket. However it is cheaper than buying handmade soap from someone else, and the soap makes beautiful gifts.

If we do not get the required number of participants we will cancel the course and refund your money.  All profits from our workshops go to fund projects and repairs needed to maintain the Corowa Community Garden for the local community to source organic produce.
