Wicking beds are an enclosed garden bed with a water storage at the base, like a self watering pot. They provide consistent and even moisture to the soil from below. Reduce the amount of water needed, and loss of surface moisture through evaporation. Watering from below also helps reduce diseases caused by overhead watering. Wicking beds are an ideal system for hot summers, and for times when you are not at home. Learn other water saving techniques in this workshop.
